August 29, 1950 - October 19, 2022

I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all of them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8

Robert passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 19th, 2022, at Lower Caper Fear Hospice Center in Wilmington NC at the age of 72 years old. He was born in White Oak NC to Flynn Jessup & Mary Purdie Jessup who proceeds him in death. He worked in logging and other various jobs until settling down at Eastland Homes where he loved to care for the horses there. Robert also loved watching westerns and making picture frames out of cigarette packs in his spare time.

Robert was also proceeded in death by his sister Rose Jessup of White Oak, and brother Leon Jessup of White Oak. He leaves to cherish his memories a brother Gary Flynn Jessup of Warsaw, daughter Mary Jackson of Charlotte NC, Son Carl Jackson of White Oak NC. Four grandchildren; Shania Drake, Damarion Perkins, Kamari Jackson, and Kimberly Jackson. A special friend Annie Jackson. And a host of cousins and friends.

God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered, “come to Me.” With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him slowly fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
