Lillie Luvenia Vivian Melvin Melvin

Elizabethtown, NC
Departure: June 16, 2021

Lillie Luvenia Vivian Melvin Melvin became the second child of Robert and Emma Melvin on March 7, 1918. On September 21,1939, she gave her love through matrimony to Elder Melvin. Through this bond two girls were born; Willa Arzina and Judith Elmira.

She graduated salutatorian of her high school class. She was an avid reader and loved sewing, and many other arts and crafts. Lillie enjoyed challenging puzzles. She always loved being involved in community affairs whether taking people to go vote or being secretary of the PTA. She loved traveling different places with church, senior citizens or family. Always trying new things or being a dare-devil. (ex. The first to step out on the glass floor in Canada.) She looked forward to her days at senior citizens. We had to make sure we did not schedule appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lillie always put others first. Her whole family was her pride and joy.

In the early morning of June 16, 2021, God called her home. She lived a good life with love always in her heart for others.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elder; grandson, Ahmid Jamal Underwood; brothers, John and Dexter; sisters, Lossie Melvin (5 years old), Mable Williams and Mary Williams.

Lillie leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Willa Underwood, Judith Evans and added daughter, Freida Cogdell (Luther); Two sisters, Thelma McDonald of Chester, PA and Minnie Burns (Odell) of Fayetteville, NC; Grandchildren, Demetrius Underwood (Angie), Javon Sharee Jackson (Travis), Christopher Evans (Adora), Jamore Evans, Lennell Cogdell and Althea Gilbert (John); Thirteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
