Mr. Robert Lee McDowell, affectionately known as “Rock,” age 66, of 320 Browns Creek Church Road, Elizabethtown, North Carolina, peacefully transitioned on Sunday, April 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Hospice Center in Whiteville, North Carolina.

Robert was born to the late Ms. Rosa Belle McDowell. He lived a life marked by strength, quiet resilience, and a deep connection to those he loved. Known for his warm spirit and steady presence, “Rock” made a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

​

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted sister, Ms. Jacqueline DeVane, and his beloved aunt, Ms. Margaret McDowell, along with a host of extended family members and friends who will continue to honor his life and legacy.

​

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Browns Creek AME Zion Church, located at 394 Browns Creek Church Road, Elizabethtown, North Carolina 28337.

​

Public viewing will take place on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Newton Chapel, 403 Martin Street, Elizabethtown, North Carolina 28337.

Interment will follow at Browns Creek AME Zion Church Cemetery, 394 Browns Creek Church Road, Elizabethtown, North Carolina 28337.

Though he has departed from this earthly life, Robert’s legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
