Lessie Marie Newkirk McDowell, 95, transitioned to glory on September 26, 2021. She was born July 23, 1926 in Pender, NC to Norman Newkirk and Janie Murphy. Lessie was the beloved wife of the late Johnnie Lee McDowell.

Lessie leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Johnnie Lee McDowell, Jr. of the home; Joyce Campbell of Springfield, IL; Lenzie McDowell of Springfield, IL and a special granddaughter Sharon Denise McDowell of Elizabethtown, NC.

A public viewing will be on Friday, October 1, 2021 from

2 pm - 5 pm at Newton Chapel, 403 Martin Street in Elizabethtown, NC. A memorial service and interment will be on Saturday, October, 2, 2021 at 11 am at Baldwin Branch Missionary Baptist Church, 4047 Hwy 242 in Elizabethtown, NC.
