Alexander Cromartie
Alexander Cromartie was born December 21,1930 to the late Sylvester Cromartie and Charity Melvin Cromartie. He had one sister, Lonice Cromartie Newkirk, who proceeded him in death. His childhood was spent in Abbottsburg, North Carolina, Baldwin North Carolina, and Elizabethtown, North Carolina.
Alexander moved to Baltimore, Maryland as a young man. He and the Late Annie C. Murchison raised 5 children and 14 grandchildren together. Alexander worked for Wagner Brothers box company for more than 40 years. He retired and later became a professional sedan car driver.
Alexander lived his life filled with laughter and a willing heart to help people. He loved to watch sports and to relax in his recliner chair. Alexander loved going to church. He gave generously to various churches and organizations. He believed in giving his tithes unto God.
Alexander had a keen liking for beans. He loved, black eye peas, red beans, northern beans, field peas, and his favorite was baby lima beans with smoke meats. Alexander always kept a clean car. He would spend countless hours detailing his car and making sure that it looked good and smelled good too.
Alexander was affectionately called Pee Wee, AG, Uncle Bubba, Gramps, and Pops. He was Daddy. Alexander was the best father to his 7 children. Five of seven proceeded him in death. (Alexander Harold Cromartie, Diana McKoy, Harry Lee Murchison, Anthony Murchison, and Willie Lee Murchison.) He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Diane Lewis of Hyde Park New York, his son, Demarsh Murchison (Grace) of Dover Delaware.
Alexander loved all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He often made each of them fill as special as the next. Three special granddaughters: Ka’lee, Jasmine, Myesha and a host of family and friends.
Alexander, Pee Wee, Pops, Gramps, Daddy, and Uncle Babba leave a legacy of love, generosity, and compassion.
