Lillie Mae McDowell

October 29, 1936 - June 26, 2021

Lillie Mae McDowell was born on October 29th, 1936 to the late Juddie and Maggie Cromartie, and departed this earthly life on June 26th, 2021.

 

Lillie Mae McDowell attended Bladen County Training School and upon graduating high school she was a textile worker for many years.

 

Lillie Mae McDowell joined Mt. Zion Church at an early age. Where she was diligent, faithful, and dedicated servant to Mt. Zion Church for many, many years. She proudly served as a deaconess, usher, and choir member. She always served with a smile on her face.  She loved her family and grandchildren with all her heart. When she talked to anyone she always talked about her children and grandchildren with a loving smile.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juddie and Maggie Cromartie, brother, James Cromartie, her daughter, Gwendolyn McKinley, granddaughter, Michelle McKinley, and great grandson Allan Tyler Stratton.

 

She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Cynthia Green (Dole) of Durham, NC, Charles McDowell of Elizabethtown, NC, Wanda Grimes (David) of Elizabethtown, NC, Kent McDowell (Bernice) of Lisbon, NC; Three granddaughters, Ebony Grimes (Scott) of Fayetteville, NC, Courtney Grimes (Brian) of Elizabethtown, NC, Kristi McDowell of Raeford, NC; One great grandson Kannon Williamson of Raeford, NC; Two best friends, Florentine Mitchell and Bet Reeves of Elizabethtown, NC; Three nieces, Brenda North (Kevin) of Charlotte, NC, Janie T. McDowell of Greensboro, NC, and Shirleen Brown of Elizabethtown, NC; One Aunt Janie (Raymond); A special niece Tiana; And a host of other relatives and friends.
