Veronica Annette Key was born March 1st, 1966 to the late Josephine Key Tarrant and Lonnie Black in Charlotte, North Carolina. Veronica Annette Key transitioned to her final resting place on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Atrium Health Carolina Medical Center. She graduated from Independence Senior High School, and furthered her education at Brookstone College of Business by completely her Phlebotomy Technical Certification. After relocating in 2018 to Greensboro North Carolina, she attended Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. Veronica, where she sang on the choir. She worked as a Bus Driver at Guilford County Public School System.

Veronica was most definitely “the life of the party. She enjoyed fishing, watching Lifetime Movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Veronica leaves three sons carrying on her legacy, Johnathan Smith (Angela Tobin), Dantiquous Smith (Vashti Prophete), and Kendrick Brown. Her sisters Sharon Drake, Barber Carter (Tameka Carter). One brother Jerome S. Godson. Her aunt’s Thelma McCoy, Anise Brown, Hazel Gipson, and Linda McGee. Her uncles James Key, and Herman Brown. Veronica has three nieces and one nephew Shakeeia Marshall, Essence Drake, Eboni Drake, and Soloman Goodson. Grandchildren Ryan Witherspoon, D’Asia Smith, Johnaye Smith, Daliah Smith and Devin Johnson.
